Students from the Landscaping Program attended the 80th Massachusetts State FFA Convention held in Sturbridge, MA March 15-17, 2010. Zachary Lyman (Easthampton) placed third overall in the Individual Demonstration event and Ben Rivet (Hampden/Wilbraham) placed third overall in the Job Interview event. David Pighetti (West Springfield) and Luis Alvarez (Agawam) received a 2nd place trophy for their Team Demonstration. Ben Rivet also received his Bay State Degree and was selected as part of the new State Officer Team. He will serve as State Sentinel over the next year. Ben is the first Landscaping student to be elected for FFA State Office and is the first Career TEC student to hold a state officer position in a student organization.
Erica Gagne (Ludlow) and Josh Englaish (South Hadley) served as delegates to the convention and Tony Mathes (Agawam) assisted on Courtesy Corps. First time Landscape Team participants were Dave Blanchard (Agawam), Nick Merryman (Agawam), Adam Routier (Longmeadow), and Anthony Camerota (Hampden/Wilbraham) with Tyler Hapgood (Agawam) as an alternate. The chapter also received recognition for membership growth during this school year.

Six students from Fashion Technology recently traveled to Buffalo N.Y. to attend the DECA (Distributive Education Club of America) Northeast Regional Leadership Conference . Attending the conference were Stephanie Lee (CTEC/Agawam),Janel Theis (CTEC/Agawam), Kristen Adams (Longmeadow),Gina Marino (Longmeadow), Latricia Anderson ( Minnechaug) and Shawna Sperry (Southwick).

Luis Vazquez is a senior from West Springfield, and a member of our Automotive Technology program. Because of his standing in the top 5% of his class, Luis participated in the A.Y.E.S. (Automotive Youth Educational System) program and is currently employed at Balise Chevy as an auto technician. Luis takes pride in his work and is known for his exceptional diagnostic skills. After graduation he plans to continue his education in the automotive field.
